Description

I've been wanting to get back into the Horse Art Wolrd but I don't know what I'm doing anymore. It has changed so much since '09.

.__.             Anyways. Appaloosas. Hard. Very hard. But This one is based on an Appy mare I used to own back in '07-'08. She was super smart and she loved to jump. Crazy jumper. I also taught her how to bow :3 So cute.

Born on a Sport Horse breeding farm, Cam had a good beginning. The owner of the farm bred only "superior" warmbloods and sport horses, or so he says. While many of his horses' get became great athletes (which kept him in business) none were actually from pure lineage and most were designer bred. He would buy older retired horses, or show horses that had gone lame that needed a forever home, and breed them. Doing so, he never really paid close attention to the horses he bought and bred. He was making a killing selling these horses and a majority were good horses.

Cam's parents were both old, grade TB crosses. Her mother was bought off a children's summer camp and her father was adopted from a OTTB sanctuary. Both were solid colored, the sire being back and the dam being chestnut. Once Cam popped out, the owner quickly and swiftly sent her off to auction with the mother. In all his ignorance he believed Appaloosas were the epitome of dumb horse. He couldn't have a colored foal out of his "perfect" stock!

The mare foal duo was quickly bought up by an older gentlemen who thought the foal was beyond beautiful. When he brought them home, he got out his camera to send pictures to his grand kids. Once the flash went off though, Cam panicked and ran straight into a thicket of dense brush. She was completely unharmed except for a split in her left nostril.

"Why you're just a little camera shy filly aren't ya?" He picked her up and hauled her into his small barn and cleaned her up. Looking her over he held her small had between his palms, "Good thing I never planned on showing you."

A few years went by and he started her off nice and slow. She was a quick learner though and was very well socialized with humans and the other animals on the old man's farm. He had used her mother to pony her around on trails to get her acquainted with her future job. By the end of year 3 she was well off on her training and completely excepted the saddle, bridle, and all of the commands. She happily walked, trotted, cantered, stopped, turned, and backed. She loved the attention and she loved the work. After a few months went by, into her 4th year, she started jumping out of her fence. The old man tried to ride her everyday, because if he didn't she would have so much pent up energy the next. She had grown a lot and became too much horse for the old man. He wanted a calm easy going trail companion and Cam was an energetic, on the go kind of horse. His grand children would come and visit and ride the young mare bareback, finding small fallen trees and setting up hay bales and barrels to jump over. Cam took very well to the kids and the idea of jumping. The kids would often compete to see who could jump the higher obstacle. Cam never refused.

The farmer decided he would keep the mare for his grandchildren. They seemed to all get along well and the children's fearlessness made them great mounts for the mare. That was until one day they went a little too far. Having another jumping contest between themselves, things quickly got out of hand. Since they couldn't find something high enough to jump in the barnyard and more, one child decided he would jump the fence.

"Logan you can't jump that! Its a bazillion feet high!" One of the girls yelled.

"You're just a baby! Cam's not afraid and neither am I! He gathered up the reigns and b-lined it for the fence. Cam, with ease and finesse, cleared the 4 foot fence, but the boy, not so much. He lost balance and fell off backwards, head over heels and hit the ground. He broke a couple bones but nothing too serious. His mother though was distraught. She demanded the horse be sold as it was dangerous. They kids pleaded to not get rid of her and said they would never jump her again. They loved her.

The only way to ease the kids' sadness was to tell them that Cam was made for jumping and that she needed to go to a home that would teach her to be the best. He knew just the place. He quickly called up Aurora Olympian and asked if they wanted a jumper prospect. He told them the situation, and they were quick to nab her. He even promised the kids that they would take the day's drive to go and see her once she was settled into her new home.

"You promise we can go see Cam at your farm? The youngest girl asked.

"Of course. And I'll even let you know when her first show is!" Morgan smiled. "She is a beautiful horse Ronald. Thank you so much. She will have a great home."

I'm terrible with genetics...Especially with any coat patterns. I searched for some answers and this is about what I got out of it. Cam also has some dappling but heck, idk what the genetic bananas are for that!
